Build a Foundation for Sustainable Growth

This year's conference aims to provide you with the tools for sustainable success, whether you're a beginner or a seasoned veteran of the Illinois grape and wine industry.

It all kicks off the afternoon of Thursday, January 30th with a special pre-conference workshop with the Northeast wine guru Domenic Carissetti. Domenic has been an integral part of the world of wine for the past 35 years, as an educator, consultant, and producer of over 300 million gallons of wine. He has served as chairman of the American Society of Enology and Viticulture – Eastern Section, and is currently an instructor/advisor with the VESTA program. As a consultant, he helps new wineries get started, and helps existing ones take the next step in improving wine quality. He will be joining us to share his practical experiences, and offer several tips of the trade that don't show up in textbooks.

Thursday evening we will host our wildly popular and equally hilarious Wine, Pizza, and Trivia Night.

Friday, we'll delve further into the wine making process with educational workshops offered by top-notch enology experts, covering a variety of topics, including wine faults, mobile bottling lines, fermentation issues, and even a little winemaking philosophy. Friday evening the conference twists into festival mode with a Winter Wine Festival open to the public. Participating wineries will offer tastings of their wines as well as wine available for purchase by the glass and bottle. Culinary offerings will be staged throughout the room to allow attendees to create their perfect food pairings.

Saturday we'll offer three concurrent educational tracts: one for wine lovers and marketing professionals, one covering best practices and techniques for grape growing, and another focusing on more advanced topics in viticulture, including emerging pest and disease threats, new cultivars from Cornell and more!

As always, the grand finale will be the IGGVA Annual Banquet and Auction which features four courses of culinary delights, each paired with the Best of Show and Governor's Cup winners of the Illinois State Fair Wine Competition.

Cheers!
