SUMMER BRINGS WINE FESTIVALS, EVENTS GALORE TO ILLINOIS - 5/5/2009

From May through September wineries and vineyards throughout Illinois open their doors and twist off their corks to wine lovers, curious travelers and local enology enthusiasts with a season of wine festivals. With more than 80 wineries across the state, the Illinois Grape Growers and Vintners Association (IGGVA) offers an abundance of wine and food events, music festivals, tastings and unique opportunities to meet and learn from Illinois vintners this summer. The abundant festivals provide an opportunity to sample the best of Illinois Wine Country and showcase the unique communities and visual excitement of Illinois winery life.

“Illinois wine isn’t only about bottling a quality product, but about the colorful experience that Illinois Wine Country has to offer its visitors,” said Larry Hanold, President, IGGVA. “Every glass of Illinois wine that we serve is accompanied by sweeping landscapes and true Midwestern hospitality.”

To help keep Illinois wine lovers updated and connected at all times, IGGVA has launched a new social media platform with presence on Twitter, Flickr and Facebook. These sites will provide wine, festival and Illinois travel-related news items. Interested parties can monitor these sites for up-to-date information and images.
